Okay, one way English in crazy. These four phrases can all be pronounced the same way in conversation.
THEM and HIM reduce to the sounds [əm].
I hid him.
I hid them.
The T and the D sound the same if they’re between two vowels.
So I HIT HIM becomes [aɪ hɪd əm].
I HIT THEM becomes [aɪ hɪd əm].
So let’s look at some sentences.
I hid him under the stairs.
Hid him, [hɪd əm].
I hit him in the eye.
Hit him, [hɪd əm].
I hid them from my brother.
