Come to my Party in NYC!

I’m celebrating my 1 Million Subscribers on YouTube and you’re invited. I would love for you to come so I can meet you.

Hey guys! Rachel here, to share some exciting news. I’m throwing a party and you’re invited! So if you follow my channel, and you watch most of my videos, then you saw a video not too long ago, maybe eight weeks where I said: Oh my gosh! I just reached a million subscribers on YouTube!

So if you’re one of those subscribers, thank you so much! How incredible! When this happened, I was so floored, so excited, that I called up YouTube. Actually, didn’t call them because I don’t have YouTube’s number. I emailed them and I said: YouTube, this is incredible. There are a million people out there working on their English and using YouTube to do it. They’re taking a chance on me. They’re spending their time with me, watching my videos. I want to meet them! And YouTube said ‘cool’. I think you should meet them.

So we’re throwing a party on December 14 at the YouTube space in New York City in Chelsea. And if you can get there, you are invited! I’ll get to the details of the party in a second but first, I have a question for you.

When they asked me what food do we want to serve at this YouTube party, I thought you know, what would be really fun is to serve appetizers that come from all of the different countries that support my channel. So would you do me a favor? Help me pick something good. In the comments below, will you give me the name of an appetizer from your country that’s typical that would be good to serve at the party.

So what is an appetizer? An appetizer is something that we usually eat before the meal. A little snack to get us started. It’s usually something small and in this case, at the party, these appetizers are going to be passed around on a tray so they have to be something that’s sort of easy to pick up maybe without using silverware. I don’t know. There, we can probably improvise with a little cup in a little spoon, I don’t know, it’s up to the caterer. But at any rate, keep that in mind. Brainstorm for me an awesome appetizer from your country and put it in the comments below. I’m going to pass these suggestions on to the caterer.

Okay now, for the details, the party is December 14 in Manhattan, in Chelsea, at the YouTube space at 6:00 p.m. And it is open to you. The whole point of me having this party is to meet you and to thank you, to get to know you, so how do you get there? Okay, it’s a two-step process. Step one, follow this link. I’ll also put it in the description below and this is a link where you will go put in your email and it will let me know okay, this person is interested in coming to the party.

Now, if there’s no way you’ll ever make it to the party, please don’t put your email in here. It’s awesome if you’re excited and you want to show support but in order to help me keep a good idea of the actual number of people that might come, please only put your email in here if there is a chance that you could physically be present at the party on December 14, that’s a Thursday. So step one is to follow the link and put in your email.

Step two, because YouTube is officially throwing this party and it’s in their space, they’re in charge of the actual RSVP. So about a week or two before the party in early December, anyone who has given me their email and said ‘Yes, I’m interested.’ will be sent an email from YouTube or from me with a link to YouTube that will have their official RSVP form and you do have to fill that out in order to get your name on their list, in order to get in the front door.

If you end up RSVP and can’t show up, that’s okay but try only to RSVP if you really think there’s a good chance you can come. What happens if more people show up than we have room for? Okay, that could happen and the way that it works is entry into the party by YouTube is on a first-come first-served basis.

Have you ever heard that phrase before? First-come first-served. That means whoever is there first gets what’s available. People might use this phrase if they’re talking about something that’s limited in quantity. Who, how do we decide who gets it? It’s just the first people who show up.

So who’s going to be there? I’m going to be there. David, my husband, is going to be there. Maybe my son but probably not because then one of us would have to watch him. My parents will be there. David’s parents will be there. Lots of my friends and family who have been in the real English videos who you may have seen will be there. So it’s going to be an awesome chance to meet not just me but all of the people who support Rachel’s English by being in the videos. I’m really excited to meet you, to take pictures with you, to learn about why you’re learning English.

I really hope some of you can come. I actually recently had a meet-up in Rome when I was traveling there. There were only about a dozen people but it was so awesome! I got to get to know people, get to know how they use Rachel’s English, why they use Rachel’s English, and it’s so exciting for me to get to meet you guys. So I hope you’ll be able to come.
